One of my passions is wine. We are very fortunate to have a wonderful neighbor who owns a wine store, the Wine Warehouse, and he has provided us with the opportunity to taste, drink and learn a lot about wines from around the world. Tonight we tried three wines:
  • Alamos Bonarda 2006 (Mendoza Argentina)
  • Vidal Syrah 2004 (Hawkes Bay, New Zealand)
  • Andezon Cotes du Rhone 2005 (France)
The best wine of the three was the Vidal Syrah. It had the full flavor that I expect from a Syrah, a really great nose and a nice finish. The Andezon had a strong tannin flavor and no real fruit. I enjoyed the Alamos last night by itself, but it paled in comparison to the Vidal.
I have been learning about programming in Python. It is a very powerful and easy to use language that is loaded standard with most Linux distributions (e.g. Ubuntu). It is also the primary scripting language used for ESRI development. I have been very surprised at how easy it is to create simple Graphical User Interfaces, manipulate data in databases, and write basic scripts to help with data management in my work.
Welcome to Geocentric Focus. This is a place where I can collect, organize, contemplate, and publish the multitude of ideas that cross my mind. I hope you enjoy the journey and I welcome any feedback you are willing to offer.
